Jupiter hints at sports card expansion
Jupiter has teased a new release for next week that appears likely to expand its Gacha digital pack product into sports cards.
“Game time’s almost here. New worlds are coming to the machine,” Jupiter posted on Thursday, alongside an image of mystery packs surrounded by basketballs. Phygitals replied with an eyes emoji, signaling that the digital collectibles platform may be involved in the release.
Neither company has confirmed a partnership or disclosed what will launch. However, the basketball imagery points toward sports trading cards, while Phygitals already offers digital packs backed by physical Pokémon, One Piece and sports cards. The company also provides white-label pack infrastructure, vaulting, payments and fulfillment for third-party brands.
That makes Phygitals a natural partner if Jupiter is preparing to add basketball, football, baseball or other sports-card packs.
Digital packs move beyond TCG
Jupiter launched Gacha in July with Collector Crypt, initially allowing users to open digital packs containing real, graded Pokémon and One Piece cards. Each pull is linked to a physical card held in a vault and can be kept, traded, sold back or shipped to the owner. Jupiter has since added luxury watch packs.
The potential expansion comes as digital pack products continue to spread across crypto, collectibles and mystery-box platforms. The format combines the reveal mechanics of loot boxes with real items that can be instantly sold or redeemed, creating a faster and more liquid version of traditional card breaks.
For platforms such as Jupiter, the product adds a repeat-purchase loop that sits naturally beside trading and speculation. For infrastructure providers such as Phygitals, partnerships offer a route to distribute the format through platforms with established users.
