The AI Dealer Race Has Begun: Why Operators and Suppliers Are Betting on Virtual Tables

AI is no stranger to the iGaming industry, for years it has been a part of the systems that platforms and players interact with on a regular basis - perhaps even without knowledge it was a part of your experience with a platform. From customer support automation to fraud and detection systems utilizing artificial intelligence.
But now AI is moving somewhere far more visible. It’s taking a seat at the table.
Just recently we have had two announcements from opposite ends of the industry highlighting the emerging trend - operators and liquidity providers are pushing into the market with AI dealer products.
Two Companies, One Direction
The first signal came from BetHog. After launching its AI blackjack dealer, Sunny, the operator realized the majority of player engagement on the platform revolved around the AI dealer itself. This led the operator to pivot.
That resulted in Sentient Studios, a standalone business dedicated to distributing AI dealers for the wider industry. BetHog then announced it would close its casino to focus entirely on developing AI-powered dealer technology.
Almost simultaneously, the team behind the liquidity provider iBankroll announced Octane Studios.
Unlike Sentient, Octane wasn't born from an operator looking to commercialize an internal product. It was built by a supplier already serving operators through liquidity infrastructure.
Rather than relying on expensive physical studios, operators can launch photorealistic AI dealer experiences customized entirely around their own identity. Built in days rather than months, fully programmable and infinitely scalable, Octane positions AI dealers not as a replacement for live casino, but as a new creative platform for operators, streamers, aggregators and IP holders alike.
Why Both Sides Are Moving
There is obvious commercial value in the model itself. Operators gain differentiated content, lower production costs and the ability to launch customized dealer experiences in a fraction of the time required by traditional live casinos.
The long-term opportunity however may not be the dealer at all. It may be the data.
Unlike traditional live casino, an AI dealer isn't simply dealing cards. Every conversation, every interaction and every player response becomes structured information that can be analyzed, tested and continuously improved.
This creates an entirely new layer of behavioral data for operators. Which personalities drive longer sessions? Which conversational styles improve retention? How does dealer appearance influence engagement? Which interactions encourage players to return, and which cause them to leave? These are questions that traditional live casino has never been able to answer at scale.
It also makes some of the industry's latest moves appear less coincidental. The team behind Octane Studios already operates across several market segments including quantitative research, software development and liquidity infrastructure. If AI dealers become a primary interface between operators and players, they won't simply generate gameplay - they'll generate one of the industry's most valuable data assets.
