Duelbits Taken Offline After Co-Founder Confirms $7M Hack

Duelbits co-founder Joe confirmed on September 24 that the crypto casino has lost about $7 million to a hack and said the site will remain offline until the company understands what happened. He also said user funds are safe.

The first public sign of trouble came from blockchain security firm PeckShield, which posted an alert at 10:15 a.m. UTC listing outflows on Ethereum and BNB Chain. Duelbits followed about 90 minutes later with a statement on X describing a security incident and saying the site had been taken offline as a precaution. That post gave no loss figure and no cause.

PeckShield traces the outflows

PeckShield's alert itemized the tokens that left Duelbits wallets across the two chains:

• 836 ETH, worth about $2.23 million
• 1.146 million USDT
• 209 BNB
• 96,805 USDC
• 12.4 billion SHIB
• 31,515 DAI

The firm said the attacker has since swapped the haul into 1,587.87 ETH, worth about $4.2 million, plus 31,500 DAI.

Scam Sniffer, a second monitoring service, also put the outflows at about $4.2 million and said Duelbits wallets on Tron were hit as well.

Duelbits confirms the loss but not the cause

Joe posted the confirmation at 1:38 p.m. UTC. He said the site would stay offline “until we have clarity” and repeated that “user funds are safe.”

The co-founder's $7 million figure is higher than either tracker's early count, and he did not break it down by chain. The cause is still under investigation.

Second drain since 2024

Duelbits has been through this before. In February 2024, an attacker drained about $4.6 million from Duelbits wallets on Ethereum and BNB Chain, according to reports at the time. That earlier drain also hit the same two chains named in PeckShield's alert.
